Hi Friends,

I have had the honor of serving as President of this incredible organization since 2018.

When I first met Bubba, I was a “California girl” new to Bryan-College Station, and honestly, I had no clue what an outsider that made me in many ways. But Bubba, being Bubba, took me under his wing—he was Mr. B/CS and knew everyone—and made me feel like I belonged here. He saw something in me, not just as a business colleague but as a friend. We became close, and when he got sick, like many of his friends, I was there, offering my help in whatever way was needed. Bubba was self-employed and had no medical insurance. The stress of facing a life-threatening illness, coupled with not knowing how to pay for treatment, was overwhelming for him and his wife, Nancy.

His friends gathered to see what they could do to raise money to help offset the financial burden of mounting expenses. Business owners, friends, and the community planned a benefit. That night, our community raised $75,000 for Bubba’s expenses—and this was twenty years ago.

Since then, the foundation has been on a journey all its own. What started as a tribute to Bubba has turned into something much bigger. We now have a small army of people dedicated to helping others, giving back, and making a real difference. To date, we’ve given over $1.52 million to citizens and organizations in Brazos Valley.

My wish for the foundation is that we’re always here to help. Most charities started in memory of a loved one have an average shelf life of seven years. We’re now in our 21st year.

My dream is to see the model we’ve built here in Bryan-College Station spread to other communities. We are

100% volunteer-run and have genuine partnerships with our sponsors and benefactors. The unrestricted funds we give to organizations allow them to help those who need it most—without the red tape that often comes with grants or donations. We’ve also helped individuals when their situations seemed hopeless. The stories are endless, and the testimonials we receive are just a sampling of the impact BMF—and you—have made.

There will always be a need, and as long as there is, we’ll continue to show up and make a difference.

Thank you for being a part of this. Bubba may no longer be with us, but his spirit, generosity, and legacy live on through BMF as we work to create a lasting impact in everything we do.

God Bless,

Danielle Fifer
